John R. Gill III
John was born & raised in Georgetown and Spring Valley, literally growing up around the real estate business due to his late mother’s brokerage, Cathie Gill, Inc, being one of the area’s most prominent boutique firms for over thirty years, handling in excess of a billion dollars worth of residential sales and managing hundreds of rental properties.
This local insight and knowledge of both the real estate industry and Washington's myriad neighborhoods endows him with a unique ability to find his clients, whether renters new to town or longtime residents, their ideal home. John is known for creativity, a strong work ethic, extensive market knowledge and an abiding passion for Washington real estate; as buyers, sellers & renters who have worked with John will attest, he consistently provides his clients with a superior level of service.
John has participated in well over $75,000,000 worth of sales transactions and hundreds of leases, including representing the landlord in Washington’s most expensive rental lease in 2013. Prior to returning to Washington and joining Cathie Gill, Inc in early 2007, he worked as a residential real estate agent in Santa Barbara, California. He also worked with Madison Retail Group, the William Morris Agency, NBC and ran his own film & television production company.
John holds a BA (English) from Tulane University and a master's degree in Real Estate Studies (Finance) from Georgetown University, which included a semester of study at the London School of Economics. Growing up, he attended Beauvoir, St. Albans and the Blue Ridge School.
John lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife, Elizabeth, and two sons, John & George. When he is not working you can find him at a Nationals game, eating a steak, or trying his best to avoid toddler tantrums.
